Candidates seeking admission to the Master of Philosophy degree course should have passed a Master's degree examination in the concerned subject of any of the Universities approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC) or an examination accepted by the Academic Council as equivalent thereto and have obtained a minimum of 55% aggregate marks (or equivalent grade) in the examination.  For M.Phil in Life Sciences the minimum eligibility is 60% in the qualifying examination.  Candidates who have passed the Master's degree examination in the Distance/Continuing Education mode are eligible for admission only if their degree is awarded by Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU).

A relaxation of 5% of marks shall be given to the SC/ST candidates.  Teachers of a University Department or Colleges recognized by or affiliated to a statutory or "Deemed" University having not less than three years of teaching experience will also be eligible for admission to the course.  50% of the seats of the course shall be reserved for University or College teachers.  Priority shall be given to those coming under the Faculty Improvement Programme (FIP) of the UGC or Quality Improvement Programme (QIP) of AICTE.

Application Submission

Candidates for PhD/ M Phil/ MA Translation-German & Russian / Diploma/ Certificate programmes can obtain the  printed application form from the concerned Departments by paying the required application fee through Demand Draft issued by State Bank of India or State Bank of Travancore only, drawn in favour of “Registrar, CUSAT” payable at Ernakulam

SCHEDULE OF FEES

DEPARTMENT ADMISSION TEST (DAT)

Candidates for PhD / M Phi can obtain the  printed application form from the concerned Departments by paying the required application fee through Demand Draft issued by State Bank of India or State Bank of Travancore only, drawn in favour of “Registrar, CUSAT” payable at Ernakulam before the prescribed time limit. Applicants for  M. Phil. and Ph. D programmes will be required to appear for the Departmental Admission Test conducted in the respective Department / School of CUSAT on dates to be announced later and to be intimated individually to the applicants.

SPECIAL RESERVATIONS

Experienced Candidates for M.Phil programmes

Fifty per cent of the seats of the M.Phil. programmes are reserved for University / College teachers having not less than three years of teaching experience.  Teacher candidates coming under FIP of the UGC or QIP of AICTE will be given preference.
