The Centre for the Study of Social Exclusion and Inclusive Policy (CSSEIP) has, since the commencement of its formal functioning in February 2009, engaged itself in building up the intellectual infrastructure required for furthering research in the broad agenda of social exclusion. Following the general approach to social exclusion research, the Centre scrutinizes and dissects social exclusion as both ‘a Process and a Status’. Developing on this scheme of examining social exclusion, the Centre has incorporated the ‘Process-Status-Process’ approach in its research. This approach includes the identification and examination of the process that has led to social exclusion, the evaluation of the present status or magnitude of social exclusion and the charting out of processes that can help in achieving the desired level of social inclusion.
